WHAT IS MEDICAL MASSAGE?

Medical massage is an outcome-based massage, primarily the application of a specific treatment targeted to the specific problem the patient presents with a diagnosis and are administered after thorough assesment/evaluation of needs.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING MEDICAL MASSAGE?

Various techniques are used during your treatment session. Depending on individual needs, deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point work and various movement therapies may be incorporated.

TRADITONAL MASSAGE vs. MEDICAL MASSAGE

Spa massage and medical massage may feel similar, but their techniques differ. During a spa massage, the techniques likely focus on relaxation. A medical massage will incorporate a broader set of therapies and techniques for muscle health and recovery depending on your specific needs.

DOES INSURANCE COVER MEDICAL MASSAGE?

There’s no guarantee that every insurance provider will cover massage therapy. Call to verify your insurance coverage for massage therapy. Ask to get a prescription by clearly communicating to your doctor that you’d like massage therapy as treatment.
